The song Cassie was written by the female-fronted alternative metal band Flyleaf about a girl who was killed in the Columbine shootings. She was asked if she believed in God, then shot for saying yes. It's pretty tragic, but awesome that she was able to stand up for her beliefs despite the consequences. Here's an excerpt if you want, you can listen to the song in it's entirety for free at Lastfm.com
The question asked in order
To save her life or take it
The answer no to avoid death
The answer yes would make it
Make it
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger
All heads are bowed in silence
To remember her last sentence
She answered him knowing what would happen
Her last words still hanging in the air
In the air
Whether or not the band is a "Christian band" is highly debated, several of their songs I've heard do have religious undertones- but it's not exactly praise & worship tunes they're putting out either. Lead singer Lacey Mosley doesn't necessarily believe that makes Flyleaf a Christian band. "We all share the same faith. And so when we deal with the whole 'Christian band thing,' we kind of think about something P.O.D.says, like, 'If you're a Christian, it affects everything in your life. So if you're a plumber, does that make you a Christian plumber?' "* Hiiiya- how about them apples! On one hand I can empathize, but after a while I get sick of how sensitive people are about religion. Just because someone talks about it in your presence doesn't mean it's being forced on you.
